井底之蛙

Jǐng Dǐ Zhī Wā

井底的青蛙以为井口就是整个天空。比喻见识短浅的人。

A frog at the bottom of a well — someone with a narrow view of the world.

有yǒu一yī只zhī小xiǎo青qīng蛙wā，一yì直zhí住zhù在zài一yī口kǒu浅qiǎn浅qiǎn的de井jǐng里lǐ。它tā每měi天tiān看kàn到dào的de天tiān，就jiù是shì井jǐng口kǒu那nà么me大dà的de一yí个gè圆yuán圈quān。它tā觉jué得de自zì己jǐ的de井jǐng很hěn宽kuān，自zì己jǐ的de世shì界jiè最zuì美měi。

一yī天tiān，一yī只zhī大dà海hǎi龟guī路lù过guò井jǐng边biān。小xiǎo青qīng蛙wā骄jiāo傲ào地de对duì海hǎi龟guī说shuō：“你nǐ看kàn！我wǒ这zhè井jǐng多duō大dà！我wǒ可kě以yǐ在zài里lǐ面miàn跳tiào来lái跳tiào去qù，还hái能néng在zài水shuǐ边biān歇xiē脚jiǎo，谁shuí能néng比bǐ得de上shàng我wǒ？”

海hǎi龟guī笑xiào了le笑xiào，告gào诉sù青qīng蛙wā：“我wǒ住zhù在zài大dà海hǎi里lǐ。大dà海hǎi宽kuān广guǎng得de看kàn不bù到dào边biān，深shēn得de看kàn不bù到dào底dǐ。不bù管guǎn下xià多duō少shǎo雨yǔ，海hǎi水shuǐ也yě不bù会huì涨zhǎng得de太tài多duō；不bù管guǎn天tiān多duō旱hàn，海hǎi水shuǐ也yě不bù会huì少shǎo多duō少shǎo。那nà才cái叫jiào真zhēn正zhèng的de大dà。”

小xiǎo青qīng蛙wā听tīng了le，目mù瞪dèng口kǒu呆dāi，才cái知zhī道dào自zì己jǐ从cóng前qián的de“世shì界jiè”原yuán来lái那nà么me小xiǎo。

Once there was a little frog who lived at the bottom of a shallow well. Every day, the patch of sky he could see was only as wide as the mouth of the well. He thought his well was huge and his world the finest there was.

One day a great sea turtle came by. The frog puffed up proudly and said, “Look at my well! I can hop around in it, rest by the water — who could possibly be happier than I am?”

The turtle smiled and said, “I live in the sea. It is so wide you cannot see the other side, so deep you cannot see the bottom. No matter how much rain falls, the water barely rises; no matter how dry the year, it barely sinks. That is what vast really means.”

The little frog stared in silence. Only then did he realize how tiny his world had been.
