In the Han dynasty there was a famous general named Li Guang, known for his strength and his skill with a bow.

One evening, on his way back to camp after battle, he passed through a meadow. In the dim light he thought he saw a huge tiger crouching in the grass. His heart leapt. He drew his bow to the full and shot.

The next morning he went with his men to find the tiger. When they looked closely, they were astonished — it wasn't a tiger at all, but a large rock. Yet Li Guang's arrow had buried itself deep inside the stone, and no one could pull it out.

Li Guang was amazed. He shot at the rock again, but every arrow now bounced off. Someone said, “Yesterday you truly believed it was a tiger. Your whole heart was on it, so the arrow went in.”

From this came the saying, “Where sincerity reaches, even gold and stone will open.” With a true, focused heart, no obstacle can stand in the way.
